Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K) is all set to add another feather to its cap.
For the purpose of assembling information regarding flood, drought and disaster management, the IIT-K, in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has developed a micro satellite named as ‘Jugnu’.
Around 4,000 employees are looking forward to a chance to get their jobs back at the JK Cotton mill in Kanpur, which closed 20 year ago and will re-open on Monday. The JK Group officials informed that most probably, the mill, which will re-open on Monday, will start functioning in full-swing in the next three months, since it needs to go under several repairs prior to it.
The mill was shut down by the management in May 1989, when a strike was announced by the workers, the closing down led to loss of jobs for around 4,000 workers.
In order to promote safe sex drive, the UP State AIDS Control Society has decided to install nearly 250 condom vending machines in the city at key locations.
While giving this information at a press conference, SP Goyal, Project Director said, "It has been seen that despite all the awareness, people still hesitate in asking for condoms from the medical stores. The result is that they take the risk, which is not good. Condom vending machine would be a good zero-embarrassment option.”

India were asked to chase a victory target of 241 runs, and ended up scoring 198/5 in 40 overs when play was called off due to bad light. According to the D/L method, India needed to be 183/5 after 40 overs.
Kanpur, Nov. 20 : Question marks have surfaced about England fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom’s durability and future in the game after he was ruled out of the third one-day international against India being played here today.
Sidebottom, England’s player of the year for 2007-08, has bowled only two overs in an England shirt since early August because of a succession of injuries that included problems with his groin, hip, back, side and ankle, reports the Daily Express.
Kanpur, Nov 19 : Indian cricket captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni today said that his team will go with full strength in the third One-day International (ODI) against England to be played in Kanpur on Thursday.
Addressing a news conference after the net practice session at the Green Park stadium, the venue of the match, Dhoni said, there won''t be much experimentation in the selection of players for the third ODI.
