Hamburg - Real Madrid powered to a 3-0 win over Zenit St Petersburg under new coach Juande Ramos while Bayern Munich and Porto also enjoyed victories in the Champions League on Wednesday.

European champions Manchester United were meanwhile held 2-2 by Danish visitors Aalborg, while Fiorentina and Dynamo Kiev clinched narrow wins to go into the UEFA Cup.

Hamburg - For decades cars have become bigger and heavier with more luxurious and safety gadgets, but several car makers are bucking the trend with new lightweight materials and design principles that save both fuel and resources.

Heavier cars mean more fuel consumption and more wear-and-tear of components such as suspension and tyres.

Audi pioneered weight-saving technology 10 years ago with aluminium bodies which are two-thirds lighter than conventional steel. It is alloyed with magnesium and silicon for additional strength.

Inter Milan could have finished top, but Jose's Mourinho's team went down 2-1 to Werder Bremen as a result of second-half goals from Claudio Pizarro and Markus Rosenberg, which earned the German side a UEFA Cup berth. Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted for the Serie A side.

Hamburg - A neatly taken second-half goal from substitute Didier Drogba helped Chelsea book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League with a
2-1 victory Tuesday over Romanian side CFR Cluj.

Despite the win, last year's beaten finalists Chelsea still finish second in Group A behind Roma, who secured top spot with a 2-0 win over Bordeaux, who qualify for the UEFA Cup.

Hamburg - Bayern Munich will be going out for victory at Olympique Lyon on Wednesday to make absolutely sure of top spot in Group F of the European Champions League.

A win followed by a victory on Saturday at VfB Stuttgart - and possible top spot in the Bundesliga - would be the perfect end to the year for Bayern in Juergen Klinsmann's first term in charge.

Yet a defeat in Lyon might conceivably be considered a good omen for the German champions.

The last time Bayern lost on French soil - a heavy 3-0 defeat at Lyon in March 2001 - they went on to win Europe's top crown just two months later.

Hamburg  - Playmaker Diego from troubled top club Werder Bremen was banned for four Bundesliga matches by the German football federation on Tuesday for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Diego, 24, grabbed SC Karlsruhe player Christian Eichner by the throat and neck during the teams' league match on Saturday which Karlsruhe won 1-0.

The incident went unnoticed by the referee but the DFB acted upon television footage. The DFB said that Bremen and Diego have accepted the ruling.

The Brazilian midfielder will miss the final match of the year on the weekend and the first three games after the winter break. He is eligible to return in late February for the match at Energie Cottbus.
