Dubai, Apr. 14: The United Arab Emirates on Tuesday claimed that it had the world''s first cloned camel.

Injaz, born in Dubai, is a female. It was born on April 8, 2009 at the Camel Reproduction Centre after more than five years of work by scientists, The National newspaper reported.

"This significant breakthrough in our research programme gives a means of preserving the valuable genetics of our elite racing and milk producing camels in the future," Dr Lulu Skidmore, scientific director at the Camel Reproduction Centre, said in a statement.

Dubai, Apr 8: The emirate of Abu Dhabi in the UAE, although an oil producer, is considered to be one of the strong candidates for hosting the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) which was officially established in Bonn earlier this year.

Dubai, Apr 7: The prevailing financial crisis has not deterred the emirate of Dubai to launch a new low cost airline, called Flydubai.

The new airline aims at offering an easy and affordable way to travel in the Middle East region, starting with two next-generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with 189 economy seats each.

Flydubai Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktum, speaking to reporters on Monday, said that the airline would start flights next June to Beirut and Amman. Flydubai

Dubai - Authorities in Dubai on Sunday accused Chechen deputy prime minister Adam Delimkhanov of being behind the murder of former Chechen rebel commander Sulim Yamadayev in the city last week.

Dubai's police chief Dhahi Khalfan Tamim told a press conference that one of the weapons found after the murder belonged to Delimkhanov, according to the al-Arabiya news channel.

Dubai  - The United Arab Emirates has asked the Russian police for cooperation in the mystery of the death of a former Russian army commander in Dubai, the chief of Dubai Police said on Tuesday.

"We expect the Russian authorities to cooperate with Dubai's police to reach the murderers. Both authorities should intensify their efforts to bring such perpetrators to justice," General Dahi Khalfan Tamim said.
