Four killed, 20 injured in Bangladesh mall fire Dhaka  - At least four persons were killed and 20 injured in a devastating fire Friday at Basundhara City, Bangladesh's largest shopping mall, in Dhaka, officials said.

Firefighters recovered three more charred bodies from inside the debris on the upper floors of the 21-storey building, in which the top five floors were destroyed, Tejgaon zone police chief Mahbubur Rahman said.

Earlier, a firefighter of the Basundhara group was killed and 20 people sustained burn injuries.

Scotland Yard joins Bangladesh authorities in mutiny inquiry Dhaka  - A four-member Scotland Yard team arrived in Dhaka Wednesday to assist Bangladesh authorities in investigating last month's mutiny by paramilitary soldiers that killed 71 people, mostly army officers, officials said.

The British government sent the team on Bangladesh's request to help local authorities investigate the massacre inside the Dhaka headquarters of the Bangladesh Rifle border guards, a British High Commission representative said.

Two Bangladesh army officers die in helicopter crash Dhaka  - Two army officers were killed Monday in a helicopter crash in Tangail district of central Bangladesh, according to officials.

Major General Rafiqil Islam and the pilot of the chopper, Lt Col Istiaq Shahid, died on the spot as the helicopter crushed into a field at Kalihati, 85 kilometres northwest of Dhaka, a district administration officer said.

The co-pilot survived the accident with severe injuries and was shifted to Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka.

"If needed, they will be tried in courts martial under the army rules," the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shafiq Ahmed told reporters in Dhaka while briefing on progress into the process of mutineers' trials.
