Football tops in 'rare' injuries

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 3  -- Football is associated with the highest rate of "rare" high school injuries, accounting for 21 injuries per 100,000 exposures, U. S. researchers have determined.

Researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy of The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, categorized rare injuries as those to the eye, teeth, neck and spine, as well as dehydration and heat illness. These type of injuries may result in high morbidity, costly surgeries and treatments, or life-altering consequences.

Schwarzenegger wants Obama to put some meat on his ‘skinny legs and arms’!

Columbus (Ohio), Nov 1 : California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger poked fun at Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama’s slight frame while praising John McCain at a campaign stop here.

Schwarzenegger had the crowd in the palm of his hand Friday at a John McCain rally with a speech that mixed a healthy helping of jokes with praise for the Republican presidential candidate.

The “Governator,” a former bodybuilder said: “He needs to do something about those skinny legs, make him do some squats and some bicep curls to build up those scrawny little arms. If only we could do something about putting some meat on his ideas,” adding that McCain was “built like a rock.”

Ohio slipping from McCain’s grasp: Survey

Columbus (Ohio, US), Oct. 6 : Republican presidential candidate John McCain is unlikely to win his bid for the White House if loses the 20 electoral votes from Ohio state.

According to the latest Columbus Dispatch poll, the Arizona senator now trails by seven percentage points in Ohio.

The survey is a result of more than 2,200 likely voters conducted over a period that included the first presidential and vice-presidential debates and Capitol Hill''s response to the financial crisis.

But Karl Rove, a former political strategist for President Bush who twice pulled off victories in Ohio, told The Washington Times: "It is not slipping away: Watch the polls in the Buckeye State over the next couple of weeks."
