Police destroys large quantity of opium in BiharSankhwa (Bihar), Mar 5 : Police and paramilitary personnel on Thursday destroyed a large quantity of opium in a Maoist infested village here.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and the members of Special Task Force (STF) launched an investigation to ascertain the owner of the field.

Wielding long blades, the personnel destroyed the entire crop.

EC to review poll preparedness in Bihar tomorrowPatna, Mar 5 : Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami and two Election Commissioners Navin Chawla and S Y Quraishi will arrive in Patna tomorrow to review the poll preparedness for the coming Lok Sabha polls.

During their visit, the team will have separate meeting with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state.

The Commission is scheduled to hold meeting with all DMs and SPs of the state to review the readiness to hold the elections in a free and fair manner.

BJP workers protest against lapses in FCI in BiharPatna, Mar 2 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Monday organised a protest rally against the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for allegedly cheating paddy and wheat farmers.

Marching towards the FCI office here, the protestors threw stones and sleepers on the office. The protestors sought to expose corruption in the FCI. They alleged that the corporation was cheating farmers by manipulating the price and sale of paddy and wheat crops.

They also added that tons of crops are being allowed to rot in the FCI premises.

Lalu Yadav slams Bihar Govt. for failure in ensuring railway security

Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav Patna, Mar 1 : Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has severely criticised the early morning Naxal attacks on two railway stations in Bihar which led to the disruption of train services on the Patna-Howrah main line for more than seven hours on Sunday.

He slammed the Nitish Kumar-led NDA Government for its failure to protect railway property from attacks by Maoists.

Naxals attack two railway stations in Bihar

Naxals attack two railway stations in BiharKeul, Katnapur (Bihar), Mar 1 : Naxals attacked the Bhalui railway station between Keul and Jamui on the Danapur-Howrah main line in Bihar early this morning.

Another railway station at Ratnapur on the on Keul-Bhagalpur line near the West Bengal border was also set afire by around 100 Naxals.

There are no confirmed reports of any casualties till yet.

There have been regular incidents of violence in the state, following the 24- hour Bihar-Jharkhand-Orissa-West Bengal strike called by CPI (Maoist) on Saturday.
