Melbourne, Feb. 2 : Ricky Ponting is opening himself up to "question marks" by taking a break from the current Chappell-Hadlee one-day series between Australia and New Zealand, claimed former captain Steve Waugh.

Ponting will be rested from the next two one-day matches against New Zealand after featuring in every game this summer.

"(With) the players choosing to play the IPL and choosing all these other opportunities, there''s got to be question marks thrown up when people say they want to rest. They''re committing to play more cricket," the Herald Sun quoted Waugh, as saying.

Melbourne, Feb. 2 : Former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh believes it would be a huge gamble to include Andrew Symonds for the tour of South Africa.

"If he was selected for South Africa, I think that would be a gamble. He''s certainly not at his best right now, but he''s one of those guys who can come out and win you a match tomorrow. So, you''ve got to weigh the pros and cons - that''s a decision that''s got to be made by the selectors," the Daily Telegraph quoted Waugh, as saying.

Melbourne, Feb. 2: Uncapped South Australia batsman Callum Ferguson and Western Australia batsman Adam Voges were called into the Australian squad on Monday to replace captain Ricky Ponting and opener Shaun Marsh respectively.

Ponting has been rested while Marsh sustained a hamstring injury in game one in Perth, Fox Sports reports.

Melbourne, Feb. 2 : Former national captain Steve Waugh has been inducted into Australian cricket''s Hall Of Fame.

The 43-year-old is the most-capped Test player in history with 168, 12 clear of Allan Border and Sachin Tendulkar.

He made his international debut in the mid-1980s, when the Australian team was at one of their lowest ebbs, and helped transform the side into a cricket powerhouse.

Waugh, the 30th inductee, is Test cricket''s most successful captain with a winning percentage of 71.92, reports Fox Sports.

Buchanan wants to know why Australia''s most controversial cricketer of recent times was allowed to go on a radio show in the first place.

Sydney  - Melbourne's record-breaking heat wave has knocked out its brand-new 120-metre observation wheel.

"The excessive heat we've had in Melbourne caused one of the members to buckle, and that's created some cracking in the bracing structure up towards the hub," Southern Star Management Group spokesman Fred Maybury said Monday.

"There's nothing in danger of falling off, but it's something we want to rectify and make sure it doesn't happen in the future," he said.
