Amritsar, Sept 10 : Public Diplomacy Officers from US Embassy Lisa Swenarski said on Wednesday that US is ashamed over the killing of the Sikhs in America post September 11 due to hate crime.
“We feel great shame over the killing of the Sikhs in US post 9/11 due to hate crime,” said Swenarski while talking to media at Amritsar today.
A delegation of American embassy is currently on a visit to Amritsar under “America Day” program initiated by the US Embassy in New Delhi.
Amritsar, September 5, : Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Dr. M. S. Gill has expressed a wish and hope that Indian sportspersons bring more glory to the country by increasing their medal tally at the 2012 London Olympics.
Citing the example of China, which got its first medal in Olympics in 1982 and now stood first in the medal list of Olympics, Gill said; “Though we have won three medals in Beijing Olympics, we would certainly achieve more medals in the next London Olympics in many more games.”
Amritsar, Sep. 5 : Punjab agriculture department has developed a novel method to preserve green fodder by making silage and hay to feed the cattle when there is shortage of green fodder around September and October every year.
The novel technique recently formulated by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Punjab which has been successfully implemented in the border areas of Amritsar.
Due to the sowing of new crops, the scarcity of non-leguminous fodders such as maize, Jowar, Bajra and ryegrass has become real.
Amritsar, August 8 : Bollywood''s latest release ''Singh is Kinng'' drew wrath from Sikh community when a mob of irate protesters disrupted the screening of the film on Friday in Amritsar in Punjab.
''Singh is Kinng'' which released on Friday, ran into trouble when a group of protesters brandishing naked swords and sticks, gathered outside Annan theatre in the city and damaged the film posters and display windows at the theatre, causing disruption in the show.
Amritsar, Aug. 7 : Heads of various Sikh organizations on Thursday witnessed the annointment and coronation of Giani Gurbachan Singh as the acting Jathedar of the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), the largest representative body of the Sikhs, had appointed Giani Gurbachan Singh as a new acting Jathedar of Akal Takht on Tuesday following the resignation of Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti.
