Reason behind Natalie Cole’s Death Revealed

Famous American singer and song-writer Natalie Cole died on December 31, 2015, on the New Year’s Eve at a hospital in Los Angeles. The reason behind the deaths of Natalie Cole is heart failure, revealed her family.

ABC News report that her heart failure was due to idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH). The famous R&B and jazz star died at the age of 65, her family said.

The famous singer’s family also revealed that the singer underwent a successful kidney transplant in 2009. She was diagnosed with IPAH after her transplant, they said.

Cole's family in the statement obtained by ABC News said that IPAH is a very serious and progressive disorder. They said Cole responded well to PAH-specific agents over many years. During the entire duration she even performed many concerts world-wide, but was hit by right heart failure despite undergoing several therapies.

Some of the hits from Natalie include ‘This Will Be’, ‘Unforgettable’ and ‘Inseparable’. Sources close to the singer said that she even cancelled several tour dates in late December, as well as a February concert.

Cole has faced a long list of health issues. Previously in her 2000 autobiography, Angel on My Shoulder, she recounted her lifelong battle with substance abuse. Later in 2009, she underwent a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with Hepatitis C in April 2008 and undergoing chemotherapy.

According to the website for the Mayo Clinic, pulmonary hypertension occurs when extra tissues grow in the pulmonary arteries. The growth of tissue blocks the blood to flow and causing blood pressure to rise.

The funeral services for singer Natalie Cole will be held this Monday, January 11, at West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles.
