Ratan Tata ‘delighted’ with great response to AirAsia hiring
Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Group, has announced that he was delighted with the great response that AirAsia India joint venture airline's hiring process received.
AirAsia India, joint venture among Malaysia's budget airline AirAsia, Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia of Telstra Tradeplace, recently conducted interviews for flight attendants in Chennai. Interviews for one hundred cabin crew positions reportedly attracted more than 3,500 candidates.
Using his Twitter account, Ratan Tata wrote, "Delighted with fantastic response to AirAsia hiring of flight attendants. makes me feel very proud."
He added that the great response made him feel proud.
Currently, the upcoming budget airline is accepting applications for the positions of pilots and first officers. The last date for submitting the applications is April 19, and the interviews will be held in Bangalore.
AirAsia has already received approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to start a budget airline in India, and the JP partners are now preparing to approach civil aviation regulator DGCA to get an air operator licence.
The Malaysian low-cost carrier will hold 49 per cent stake in AirAsia India, while Tata Sons and Arun Bhatia will own 30 per cent and 21 per cent stakes in the JV, respectively.
