Islamabad, Feb 21: Former Railways Minister Rashid Ahmed has claimed that there will be fresh elections within three months, as the new Parliament and President Pervez Musharraf could not work collaboratively for very long.

"You will see a cat and mouse game starting within three months," the Dawn quoted Rashid, as saying.

But he clarified that Musharraf is all ready to work with the new Government, but added that "the masters of gloom and crisis" are not willing to see this relationship flourish.

Rashid said that he will continue to work for the country and would form his own party, but only after consulting the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

He admitted that the Lal Masjid operation is the main reason behind PML-Q’s defeat in the elections.

"Being in the Government it was very difficult for us to ask for vote when the voters were without gas, electricity or had no wheat flour or sugar in their homes," he further added.

Rashid said the party’s defeat in the elections was the result of backing Musharraf’s policies.

He gave an advice to the winning parties, who are going to form the Government that they have been given a big responsibility by the people of Pakistan who have made it clear that they do not support the US policies.

Rashid said Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had no political role in the new set-up despite performing well in the elections.

He hinted that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) might form government without the PML-N support. (ANI)
