Randy Rogers shares about Death of his Newborn baby
Randy Rogers has opened up on the death of his newborn daughter during an interview with People Magazine. Randy Rogers Band singer and his wife, Chelsea, were quite ecstatic to have their third daughter, but soon their happiness turned into a tragedy with the baby's death.
Rogers said he and his wife were quite excited as their third daughter had dark hair like Chelsea. His other two babies, daughters Isabel, 5, and River, 21 months, have light hair like Rogers. The couple became concerned about Rumer's health as she was quite lethargic and never opened her eyes.
Doctors were consulted and they keep on giving the couple assurance that some babies do that as they think they are still in their mother's belly. But situation became serious for Rumer as she was taken to the NICU eight hours after her birth.
A number of tests were carried out, but doctors were not able to know what was exactly wrong with the baby. For six days tests were carried out. Rumer had to be put on a feeding tube and later on a ventilator as first she could not eat and later she stopped breathing on her own.
On the sixth day, the couple got the news that Rumer suffer from nonketotic hyperglycinemia (NKH), a rare genetic disorder. The disorder that affects around one out of 66,000 newborns in the US annually impairs the brain, causes seizures, breathing and feeding difficulties and lethargy. The disorder did not have any cure.
Chelsea and Rogers have the same exact recessed gene. Rumer Rain died six days after birth.
