Rajasthan Governor S.K.Singh cremated in New Delhi

President Pratibha Devisingh Patil New Delhi, Dec. 2 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Wednesday paid floral tributes to Governor of the Rajasthan and former Foreign Secretary, Shailender Kumar Singh who passed away in the national capital following a prolonged illness on Tuesday. He was 77.

He was cremated at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Manju Singh and two sons, Shashank and Kanishka.

Patil expressed grief at the passing away of S. K. Singh.

Among other distinguished personalities paying tributes to S. K. Singh were Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Ghelot also paid floral tributes to Singh.

Rajasthan government has declared seven-day state mourning from Tuesday as a mark of respect to the late Governor.

Singh had also served as the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh state from December 2004 to September 2007.

In February 1989, Singh was appointed Foreign Secretary of India. (ANI)
