Rahul Gandhi to visit Jharkhand today
Ranchi, Oct 14 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will arrive here on a two-day visit today.
During his tour, he will visit Sahibganj, Dumka, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh and Ranchi. He is scheduled to interact with Youth Congress workers, the NSUI and party leaders.
On Thursday, he will visit the Maoist strongholds of Chatra and Daltonganj. He will also visit Chaibasa and Jamshedpur.
The visit comes against the backdrop of the killing of a Jharkhand Special Branch police inspector Francis Induwar in the state recently.
On September 30, Maoists had kidnapped Induwar from Khunti district. It is believed that they wanted release of their two leaders Kobad Ghandy and Chatrodhar Mahato, arrested by law enforcement authorities in New Delhi and West Bengal respectively earlier in September.
Induwar’s body was found on the Jamshedpur-Ranchi Highway on October 6. It was then reported that a note had been found that warned the government that they could expect more of the same treatment if their demands were not acceded to. (ANI)
