Radwanska crashes out of French Open

Agnieszka-RadwanskaParis, May 30 : Third seed Agnieszka Radwanska was knocked out of the French Open by unseeded Croat Ajla Tomljanovic 6-4, 6-4 in the third round Friday.

The 25-year-old Pole is the latest casualty following the exit of top seeds Serena Williams and Li Na this week, reports Xinhua.

Fourth seed Simona Halep of Romania is now the highest-ranked player left in the women's draw.

Sam Stosur beat Australian Open finalist and ninth seed Dominika Cibulkova 6-4, 6-4 to show that she is also a serious candidate for the title.

Tomljanovic started strongly racing to a 5-1 lead, and then fended off a late comeback by Radwanska.

"I think I just started too slow, I was 1-5 down, and I guess I was a little late for the first set," said Radwanska.

"I was still trying, almost made a comeback, but didn't work out well," she said.

Tomljanovic broke Radwanska at the start of the second set and never looked back.

"After seeing the two first seeds go out, you kind of feel like 'I can do this too,'" said Tomljanovic.

"I grew up with these girls that are beating them," Tomljanovic said. (IANS)
