Qureshi asks US to involve Pak in strategy making on Afghanistan
Kuala Lumpur, Nov. 2 : Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged the United States to involve Islamabad in its strategy making process on Afghanistan.
“I requested her (Hillary Clinton) that they’re undergoing a review of their Afghan strategy, it would be highly appreciated if we could share the findings of that review and seek our input. Because we understand the area and our input might be useful for the Americans,” Qureshi, who is in Kuala Lumpur to attend a meeting of Islamic countries, said.
Qureshi warned that a poorly planned escalation in the number of US troops could merely push militants across the border into Pakistan.
“The more we coordinate, the more effective our operations will be on both sides of the border. Have you solved the problem? No you have not, you have just transferred the problem to come back to you at a later time,” The News quoted him, as saying.
“You have threatened your supplies and your logistics into Afghanistan. Let’s not forget that Pakistan is your main supply line, 85 per cent of your supplies are going through Pakistan,” he added. (ANI)
