Queen condemns 26/11 attacksWindsor, Oct 28 - Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has condemned last year's "appalling" terrorist outrage in Mumbai and praised Indians for showing courage.

"We are mindful that in a month's time India will mark the anniversary of the appalling terrorist attacks on Mumbai, in which so many Indians were killed," the British monarch told a state banquet hosted in honour of President Pratibha Patil Tuesday night.

The banquet was attended by leading members of the British government, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, as well as the High Commissioner of Pakistan, a country India blames for the attacks.

"I would like to pay tribute to the courage and stadfastness shown by the Indian security forces and people in the face of this great tragedy."

In her address, the Indian president said, "The support and encouragement we received from the UK in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks - not only from the leadership but also from the common public, from civil society, and the media - was most heartening." (IANS)
