Mexico City - A quake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale shook the south of the Baja California peninsula in northern Mexico on Monday, although no injuries or damage were reported.

Mexico's National Earthquake Service said the epicentre of the quake, which happened at 4.59 am (1059 GMT), was 115 kilometres northeast of San Jose del Cabo, a major tourist destination. (dpa)
