A local court of Nashik extended the police custody of Lt. Prasad Purohit till November 18.

He was the main accused in the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast which killed 6 people.

Purohit was produced before the District and Sessions Court in Nashik on Saturday. The judge Justice H K Ganatra extended Purohit's remand by three days, after the ATS demanded his custody for further investigation.

On the other hand, the court rejected an application demanding medical examination of the accused.

The application was filed by Purohit's relatives.

They alleged that that Purohit was physically tortured in the ATS custody, therefore, he should be medically examined by a panel of five-member doctor.
