Punjab CM All Set To Rollback Power Tax Hike
Chandigarh: Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Chief Minister has is all set to rollback power tariff enhancement for domestic users as well as the industry.
Now the load of the increased power tariff implemented by Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Authority (PSERA) will be borne by the state government.
The government decision would benefit all consumers, out of which 66% live in the rustic and 34% in the urban regions. The majority of the rural public is engaged in agriculture, a segment that has faced severe problems.
An official representative said even though the regulator had declared the increase a few weeks back, but the government had not taken any verdict on its execution.
Mr. Badal stated that a statement regarding the government’s pronouncement would be sent to the Punjab State Electricity Board.
Earlier in the day, the 7-associate Coordination Committee of the Siromani Akali Dal (SAD) & Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), formed by Badal, assembled and made a plan to this effect.
The Committee had recommended that the state government should offer relief to the consumers following the tariff hike imposed by the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Authority.
