Probe into Pak Army's Surgeon General's assassination begins

Rawalpindi, Feb. 26: PakistanIntelligence and security organizations have started investigations into the assassination of the Surgeon General of the Pakistan Army, Lt. General Mushtaque Ahmad Beg.

The army's spokesman, Major General Athar Abbas, said the attack on Lt. General Ahmad could have been a reaction of the Army operation in FATA and South Waziristan.

Officials said the teenaged suicide attacker blew himself up on reaching near the car of Lt. General Mushtaque Ahmad Beg, which killed eight persons, including the Lt. General, his driver, a guard and a woman.

Monday's attack was the eighth terrorist incident in Rawalpindi after the Lal Masjid operation of July 2007. (ANI)
