Prince William orders the search of missing Aboriginal warrior’s skull as "supremely important search"
A search for the skull of a fearsome Aboriginal warrior named Pemulwuy has been ordered by Prince William, following his visit to a native community in Australia in January.
The Royal was apparently touched when elders of the community at a Sydney suburb of Redfern requested him to help them find the remains of the hero who got killed opposing Britain's settlement of Australia.
In the early 19th century, Pemulwuy's remains were brought to the UK, which were later lost.
William's private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, has written to Mick Mundine, head of the Redfern Aboriginal Housing Company, insisting that it's a "supremely important search", correspondence published by a number of Australian newspapers has said.
The Scotsman quoted Lowther-Pinkerton, as stating in the letter, "His Royal Highness was so profoundly impressed by the determination of the Aboriginal elders he met that day in Redfern in their quest to right the wrongs done to this famous warrior in death, and to afford his mortal remains a proper burial."
"Prince William intends to do what he can to help with the search for Pemulwuy''s missing skull," a St James'' Palace spokesman further said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
