President Obama stops to tip his hat to police officers working on Times Square bomb plotIt has been reported that President Obama stopped by police headquarters in New York City Thursday to tip his hat to the police officers working on the Times Square bomb plot.

The visit to One Police Plaza in Manhattan wasn't announced ahead of time, but there was enough advance notice that a souvenir NYPD jacket was waiting to be presented to the president.

It was also reported that Obama was accompanied by Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly as he toured the NYPD's Real Time Command Center, where about three dozen officers were busy at work unraveling the aborted car bombing.

Obama told the officers, "I know folks are busy but I just wanted to come by and say thank you. I'm telling the mayor and the commissioner that the work that NYPD does in coordination with state local federal officials when it comes to counter-terrorism is a model."

The report further said that the Real Time Crime Center is well-equipped with computers and video screens, which were displaying an image of suspect Faisal Shahzad during the president's brief tour. (With Inputs from Agencies)
