Prachanda directs Maoists to play effective role in Constituent Assembly

Alliance begins work on portfolio division in NepalKathmandu, Jan 29 : Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda has instructed the party''s lawmakers to play an effective role in the Constituent Assembly (CA) and help implement the government''s commitments.

Speaking at the meeting held at the Maoist parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Wednesday, Prachanda also conceded that the role of the party had been ineffective in the past because of lack of experience.

The parliamentary party''s statute was presented for discussion at the meeting, but the code of conduct for the Constituent Assembly members could not be finalised although it was in the agenda of the meeting.

The next meeting will be held on February 2.

Some Maoist Constituent Assembly members are known to have criticised the government and the Prime Minister for not being able to work for the welfare of the people, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
