Islamabad, Sept 4 : The PPP has reportedly denied that it had ordered the reopening of corruption cases against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif, who is Punjab Chief Minister.

Senior PPP leader and Pakistan Law Minister Farooq Naik last evening informed the Senate that he had summoned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman to find out who was responsible for reopening the cases against the PML-N leaders, reported the Daily Times.

“The PPP does not believe in political victimisation or vendetta,” the paper quoted Naik as saying.

He said the NAB cases against Nawaz had been “dormant” during his exile, but had now been reopened by the NAB prosecutor.

Leader of the House (Senate) Raza Rabbani said that the reopening of the cases might be a part of a conspiracy to disturb the political harmony that existed between the two major parties.

He lamented the media reports suggesting that the Army should play a role, because the two political parties were reverting to the politics of the 1990s. (ANI)
