Power generators by Cummins recalled due to fire hazard

Power generators by Cummins recalled due to fire hazardIt has been reported that the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Cummins Power Generation portable generators due to a fire hazard.

According to the reports, about 550 portable generators were imported from China by Cummins Power Generation of Minneapolis, Minn., and sold nationwide between June 2009 and February 2010 for between $700 and $1,100 each.

The commission said in a statement that the recall involves Cummins Onan Portable Generators. "Cummins Onan" is printed on the front of the generators, which can leak fuel during normal use, posing a risk of fire.

It was also reported that the recall involves generators with a manufacturing date from June 2009 through December 2009.

Officials of the commission have advised consumers to stop using the recalled generators and contact Cummins for a full refund plus a $100 check. (With Inputs from Agencies)
