Posco’s Orissa project fate to be decided next month
The much -awaited decision on the South Korean steel major Posco’s project in Orissa is expected to come out from the door of the environment ministry during the next month.
It is to be mentioned here that the environment ministry committee submits its report on October 11 and a decision on the same is expected to be come out soon. For the uninitiated, the activities at the Posco Rs 54,0000-crore project in Jagatsinghpur was suspended in the month of August after a stop-work order by the environment ministry arrived at their doorstep.
It may be noted here that the environment minister Jairam Ramesh recently said that the panel has almost finalized the report and will be submitting it to the ministry on the 11th October.
Moreover, the minister also mentioned here that the issue will then be further discussed by the Forest Appraisal Committee (FAC). It may be recalled here that the committee was formed on the 28th July which was headed by the former environment secretary Meena Gupta.
The mission was to investigate the status of the implementation of the Forest right act.
