MDC rebuffs Mugabe's proposal to share power on his terms Harare - Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) on Friday said it would not participate in a government of national unity with President Robert Mugabe unless he met the party's conditions for sharing power.

Addressing journalists in Harare after a key party meeting, MDC vice president Thokozani Khupe said the MDC would not govern together with Mugabe unless the constitution was first amended to enshrine party leader Morgan Tsvangirai's powers as prime minister.

MP Minister gets bailA local court of Madhya Pradesh has granted bail to Tourism Minister Tukoji Rao Pawar on Wednesday.

He was arrested for threatening and intimidating a lady returning officer.

Phoolchand Verma, who is also contesting with a BJP ticket was also granted bail. He was arrested in connection with the same case.

The two BJP leaders did not apply for bail on Tuesday and were taken to jail.

Both of them got bail after they furnished a security bond of Rs 5,000 each.

AGP joins hands with BJP in Assam

The political scenario in Assam took a new color when The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) returned to the NDA on Thursday, with a saying “to free Assam from the tyranny of the Congress misrule”.

A BJP-AGP joint statement released shortly after the alliance was confirmed said that “permanent solution of basic issues of Assam like implementation of the Assam Accord, sealing of the India-Bangladesh border, issuing photo identity cards after updating the National Register of Citizens, permanent solution of flood problem, bringing peace in Assam through dialogue with militant outfits and granting ST status to six deserving communities of the state as recommended by the Assam assembly”.
