Pratibha PatilPatna: UPA-Left presidential contender, Pratibha Patil, Tuesday showed assurance about her triumph regardless of the opponent attacks to tarnish her reflection.

While addressing a meeting for her campaigning, she told, “I have faced a number of challanges in the 50 years of my public life. An attempt is being made to besmirch my image, but my commitment to the glorious traditions of democracy and to the people of India remains unshaken.”

Presidential Candidate Patil To Visit Bhubaneswar

Pratibha PatilBhubaneswar: UPA’s presidential applicant Pratibha Patil will visit Bhubaneswar on July 11 to campaign.

AICC general secretary V Narayanswamy said Ms. Patil will arrive in the evening and talk with Congress MLAs and MPs and other backing parties at a meeting being planned for the purpose.

Allegations Against Me Are Baseless, Says Pratibha

Pratibha PatilNEW DELHI: Referring to the slew of allegations hurled against her, UPA presidential applicant  said that all allegations pointed against her were ‘motivated.’

In her initial official declaration after her nomination documents were found to be in order, Ms. Patil stated it was a “distinct honor” to be a applicant for the main office of the world’s prime democratic system.

Plea Against Pratibha Dismissed

Pratibha PatilNew Delhi: Yesterday, the Supreme Court disapproved a public interest lawsuit appeal that sought abolition of the proposal of Pratibha Patil for the Presidential seat. The petition wanted Ms. Patil disqualified on the ground that she was facing up a criminal case and was also an undischarged insolvent. Noticing that the court cannot pursue mere accusations, a vacation Bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and P.K.

Pratibha Patil Files Papers For Presidential Election

Taking the firstPratibha Patil formal step in the direction of becoming the first woman President of India, the UPA-Left candidate Pratibha Patil filed her nomination papers for the Presidential election.
Along with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, she submitted the documents to the returning officer and Lok Sabha Secretary-General P.D.T. Achary at the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
United Progressive Alliance (UPA) leaders Lalu Prasad, Ramvilas Paswan, Sharad Pawar, Ramdas Athawale and T R Balu were also there. Sitaram Yechury, Gurudas Dasgupta and Abani Roy were also present during nomination filing.
