Kanpur, Mar 6 : Activists of Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Dalit Panther Party staged a demonstration here to protest the recent attack on Sri Lankan players in Pakistan.

The anger on the streets boiled down to the threat terrorism posed to India.

"We demand that terrorist training camps in Pakistan be immediately closed else India should give a befitting reply to Pakistan. We want to tell the Indian Government that instead of giving warnings to Pakistan, India should attack Pakistan and wipe out terrorism," said Ashok Kumar Yadav, an activist of Samajwadi Party.

The protesters burnt the effigies of terrorists and raised slogans.

"We have burnt the effigies of terrorists of Pakistan and Taliban to protest against Lankan attack which is an attack not just on the players, but the game of cricket and the entire world," said Dhani Rao Bauddh, President, Bharatiya Dalit Panther.

Seven Pakistanis, including six police and the driver of a bus carrying match officials, were killed in Tuesday''s attack on the Sri Lankan team as it was being driven to the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore for the third day of a match against Pakistan.

Six Sri Lankan players were wounded along with two team officials, including a British assistant coach. They flew back to Colombo along with the rest of the tour party on Tuesday night. (ANI)
