Police, women health workers clash in Patna

Patna, Nov 30: The Bihar Police today clashed with women health workers in Patna during a protest rally by the latter.

The health workers of the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) scheme, which provides basic health services in the villages, were protesting against the non-payment of their salaries.

The workers claimed that they have to be paid salaries for almost two years.

Workers were in negotiations with the state government, which failed and thousands of women workers took to the streets.

The crowd was later dispersed and traffic that had been disrupted was eased up.

Many women protesters were reportedly injured in the clash. (ANI)
