PM, President Laud Bindra's Olympic Gold

India got place in the Olympic medal tally after Indian shooter Abhinav Bindra PM, President Laud Bindra's Olympic Gold won a Gold medal in 10m Air Rifle event held in Beijing Olympics. It is a first ever individual gold medal in the kitty of India. The country has won a gold medal in the Olympic Games after a long gap of 28 years.

President Pratibha Patil, PM Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Deputy Speaker K. Rehman Khan, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, BJP leaders S.S. Ahluwalia, Ananth Kumar, Sushma Swaraj and many others congratulate Abhinav Bindra on his success.

The leaders across the political class said that it is a matter of pride for entire nation and it will inspire its youths to take part in games.

Congratulating Bindra, President Patil said that his landmark achievement would inspire other sportspersons of Olympic mega event. She termed him as “the dream of a billion people".

Sports Minister M S Gill expressed hopes that India would get more medals in the mega sports event. Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee also hailed Bindra for his outstanding achievement.

Meanwhile, Punjab government has decided to give him cash price of 1 cror. Other states and sports federations have also announced such cash prises for the young player.
