Plastic Surgery registers further growth in 2015 in United States

Plastic surgeries performed to improve buttock shape, butt implants and butt lifts are gaining popularity among Americans. The recent data released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) revealed that according to the figures of 2015, males are no more under the cover to get plastic surgeries performed, resulting in men accounting for over 40% of the total breast reduction surgeries.

The top five surgical procedures performed during 2015 were breast augmentation, liposuction, nose reshaping, eyelid surgery and tummy tuck.

The implantations and lifts related to the rear end are the fastest growing kind of plastic surgeries being performed in the US. The number of breast reduction surgeries crossed the mark of 27,000 in 2015, which was an increase of 5% and 35% compared to 2014 and 2000.

The body parts being considered for plastic surgeries are showing a radical shift among Americans during the past 15 years. The pattern of growing plastic surgeries does not seem to be decelerating in near future, with their number boosting by 115% during the period from 2000 to 2015. The number of surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures increased by 2% to 15.9 million in 2015 compared to 2014, according to the ASPS.

“While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we're seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address”, said Dr. David Song, the President of ASPS. The organization further revealed the increasing focus on buttock surgical procedures.

The number of buttock lift surgeries increased by 252% to 4,767 in 2015, compared with 1,356 surgeries performed in 2000. The subtype of buttock surgeries that were maximum in demand were buttock augmentation with fat grafting, which increased by 282% to around 15,000 in 2015, and butt lifting procedures that rose 36% to nearly 4,800. Furthermore, buttock implants were up 36% to over 2,500 in 2015.
