Dr Deborah Wells, senior psychology lecturer at Queens University in Belfast justified/confirmed that dogs and cats provide their masters benefits as provided by their children these include love and affection, companionship and happiness.

Most interestingly, the survey states that 75 percent of Scottish women present expensive gifts and food items on special occasions to their pets and celebrate their birthdays, while, 82 percent owners feed their pet the food that human beings eat.
