Pete Doherty desperate for reconciliation with dad

Pete Doherty desperate for reconciliation with dadLondon, March 5: Pete Doherty is desperate to mend his relationship with his estranged father.

The Babyshambles frontman was banned from meeting his dad, who had pledged not to meet him until he had kicked his drug addiction.

The pair had even made peace for a short time in 2007 when the singer was just released from the Priory Clinic but a relapse reversed their situation.

And now, the former lead singer of The Libertines, who is yet to get over the habit, said he was desperate to restore his cracked relationship with his idol.

"I''m coping mostly and I''m mostly clean, I won''t lie to you it is a struggle," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

"My dad and I are estranged. In his mind if I''m still using in any way then I''m not his son. But my mum speaks to me secretly.

"I try and wrap myself up enough so that it doesn''t get to me and I don''t feel anything but really of course it gets to me. I love the man and I grew up kind of idolising him.

"It''s breaking my heart that for him the be-all and end-all of our relationship is whether or not there''s something despicable in my bloodstream."

"I''d love to just go to football with him like we used to or just go for a drink and be a son and him a father," he added.
