Sonam flaunts voluminous D&G gown at Cannes

Sonam-Kapoor1New Delhi, May 17 : Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor oozed oomph in a voluminous white floral gown by Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana on day two of the 66th Cannes International Film Festival.

The actress flaunted a D&G gown at the premiere of "Jeune & Jolie" after making India-inspired statements in apparel by Anamika Khanna and Shehla Khan on the first day of the extravaganza. She is at the Cannes fest as the L'Oreal Paris ambassador.

"Sonam Kapoor in custom Dolce and Gabbana for Cannes 2013," Sonam's sister Rhea posted on Twitter, along with a picture of the actress.


Sonam all for water conservation

Sonam-KapoorBollywood fashionista Sonam Kapoor has called upon her friends, family and fans to conserve water. She has lent support to a campaign Pani Bachao Life Banao.

A three-month-long corporate social responsibility initiative by 92.7 BIG FM, the campaign aims to create awareness about saving water in the country.

“People should follow simple tips at home to save water, like using buckets for bath instead of showers, not keeping tap open with water running and many such small vigilant steps that contribute to creating larger difference in the society,” Sonam said in a statement.


Only Dhanush has 'innocence' to play 'Raanjhanaa': Sonam

SonamMumbai, May 14 : Praising her co-star Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor says only he has the 'inocence' to play the lead in "Raanjhanaa".

"I think only Dhanush can become 'Raanjhanaa'. He has got the innocence. I think there is nobody who has that spirit that is as clean (as his) over here (Bollywood)," said the 27-year-old in an interview.

"There is a lot of innocence and at the same time there is a lot of love in the way he approaches everything," added the actress who has worked with stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Imran Khan and Shahid Kapoor in the last six years.


Aanand L. Rai wants to spread magic of love through 'Raanjhanaa'

RaanjhanaaMumbai, May 9 : As the title suggests, "Raanjhanaa" is a romantic tale and its director Aanand L. Rai is confident that people would love to believe in the ideology of his film.

The "Tanu Weds Manu" fame director, who has teamed up with southern star Dhanush and Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor to tell this love story, feels even though the world has become immensely fast paced, everyone wants to be loved.

"People will relate to it and love to believe in it. Everyone wants to be loved. People haven't stopped believing in love, they have stopped believing in (other) people," he told IANS in a group interview.


Fan of classic looks, Sonam imitated Madhubala's sari

sonam-kapoorNew Delhi, May 9 : As the Indian Cinema celebrates 100 years of its existence Bollywood actresses and fashionista Sonam Kapoor shared her love for classic look and said she copied legendary Madhubala's sari from a song for an event.

"There was a sari of Madhubala from 'Achcha ji main haari...', I actually copied that sari for Filmfare's press conference," Sonam told IANS.

"It was a very simple and elegant blue sari with black border. The blouse had three-fourth sleeves and the back had black buttons on the right," she added.

Madhubala wore the sari with a brooch and accessorised it with a small batua.


Sonam worried about re-creating Rekha's 'Khoobsurat' charm

sonam-kapoorMumbai, May 8 : Sonam Kapoor is excited to step into Rekha's shoes for "Khoobsurat" remake, but at the same time she is a bit scared how she would recreate the same charm and spirit of the character.

"I am scared because the whole point of the film is to capture the spirit of that character because the story has been completely changed. She did it so beautifully and I hope I can do even 10 percent of what she did," Sonam said here in an interview.

Sonam also plans to make it contemporary.


It's Indian outfit for Sonam at Cannes

Sonam-KapoorMumbai, May 6 : This is her third year at the Cannes International Film Festival and actress Sonam Kapoor plans to make a style statement in an Indian outfit at the red carpet there.

Starting May 15, the event will see screenings of three Indian movies "Monsoon Shootout", "Bombay Talkies" and "Dabba". At the 11-day event India will be the guest country, while Bollywood actress Vidya Balan will join the jury panel at the 66th edition of the festival.

And Sonam plans to enhance the Indian flavour by hitting the red carpte in desi look.

She unveiled the L'Or Sunset Collection and Bollywood inspired looks for Cannes film festival at event. The actress has six looks to choose from for the festival, which includes dramatic eyes and red lips.

Sonam wants B'wood's `golden period' back

Sonam, Anil together for a special song in 'Bombay Talkies'

A compilation of four short films celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema, "Bombay Talkies" has contributions by Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Karan Johar.

The makers have shot one special song for the film that will feature some of the known Bollywood stars including Sonam and Anil, said a statement.

"The theatrical of 'Raanjhanaa' releasing at 12 am IST (Indian Standard Time) April 24... Countdown begins," tweeted Sonam, who has teamed up with southern star Dhanush in it.

Set in a small town, the contemporary love story also stars Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar, Deepak Dobriyal and Mohammed Zeeshan.

The 27-year-old was here Tuesday to announce the launch of the first Delhi edition of the India International Jewellery Week by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC).

The event, which earlier took place in Mumbai -- the country's business capital, will be held here April 4-5.

The decision was taken after intense discussions between director Aanand L. Rai of "Tanu Weds Manu" and Sonam.As per the script, Dhanush plays a local Varanasi boy, and Sonam essays a Varanasi girl educated in Delhi.
