New Delhi, Feb. 11 : Assistant Superintendent of Police Arindam Manna, who was investigating the death of Rizwanur Rehman, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday.
His body was found on the railway tracks in Hooghly, Kolkata. Sources claimed that the police officer had gone on leave on February
9.
Police are yet to ascertain the cause of Manna's death.
Manna was the first investigating officer in the Rizwanur Rehman murder case, and he was also the first to discover Riwanur's body.
New Delhi, Jan 16: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Kolkata industrialist Ashok Todi and his brother Pradip Todi in connection with the Rizwan Rahman suicide case.
The apex court told the Todis to surrender their passports and not to move out of Kolkata without prior permission of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). They have also been hindered from communicating or influencing witnesses connected with the case.
The Calcutta High Court on Friday directed the superintendent of Presidency jail to provide a complete report on the medical condition of Todi report before Monday, when the bail appeal would be heard again.
Ashok Todi was admitted to the jail hospital since he was remanded to judicial custody by a city court on December 1 following his surrender on a Supreme Court directive.
Kolkata, Oct 28 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last night conducted a raid at the residence of Ashok Todi, the father-in-law of computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rehman who was found dead last year after a month of his marriage.
The Special Branch of CBI conducted a raid in search of Ashok Todi, his brother Pradip Todi and brother-in-law Anil Sarogi against whom non-bailable arrest warrants were issued by the court on Monday.
However, none of the three were found in the residence, CBI sources said.
According to CBI sources, a red alert has been issued to all airports and major railway stations against Todi''s and their brother-in-law to prevent them from escaping from the country.
