President greets nation on Mahavir JayantiNew Delhi, Apr 6 : President Pratibha Patil has greeted her countrymen on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, which will be celebrated tomorrow.

In her message, President Patil said: "On the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens."

"May the message of Lord Mahavir, of love, compassion and peace, guide our conduct and inspire us to follow the path of Ahimsa for good of all humanity,'' the President added.

President to attend diamond jubilee function of Guwahati High Court today

President Pratibha PatilGuwahati, Apr 4: President Patil will attend the closing session of the diamond jubilee of the Guwahati High Court today.

The President arrived here on Friday evening after completing her three-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. After her arrival, she exchanged views with a selected group of school children, teachers and parents at the Raj Bhavan.

The Guwahati High Court was established on March 1, 1948 after the Government of India Act, 1935 was passed.

President Patil leaves for Tawang in Arunachal

President Patil leaves for Tawang in ArunachalTawang, Apr 2: President Pratibha Patil on Thursday left for Tawang, the district headquarters located at 9000 feet above sea level near Sino-India border.

During her visit, she will visit the 450-year-old Tawang monastery, the second largest in Asia.

The President, who left Itanagar, was accompanied by Governor General (Retd.) J J Singh.

Later, President Patil will visit troops at Kibithu and address a Sainik Sammelan.

President inducts high-tech VVIP jets in Indian Air ForceNew Delhi, Apr. 1: President Pratibha Patil has inducted the new state-of-the-art VVIP jets into the Indian Air Force before going on board its maiden flight to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The new jets can double as an office-in-the sky and a command centre in an emergency situation, like a nuclear attack.

"The trip would now be more business like. We will get more time to study, concentrate and apply our minds as the flight will be more smooth," said Patil at the inauguration ceremony.
