Washington, Sept 12: As the US death toll in Afghanistan has reportedly reached an all-time high, around 113 this year alone, the American intelligence agency CIA has reportedly launched a major blitz into Pakistan against top Al Qaeda and Taliban targets, apparently with due authority from US President George Bush.
Besides the 113 American soldiers, 101 other foreign troops have died during this year.

Islamabad - Pakistani lawmakers Saturday were casting their votes to elect the successor to former president Pervez Musharraf who resigned last month to avoid impeachment in the parliament.
Asif Ali Zardari, widower of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto who heads her Pakistan People's Party (PPP) since her assassination last year, is expected to win the presidential race against the two other candidates.
Islamabad, Sept 5 : Senior PPP leader Syeda Abida Hussain has said that the Wednesday’s assassination bid on Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani could be the handiwork of “pro-Musharraf elements” who, according to her, were not happy over the ouster of former president.
She said that it was during the period of Pervez Musharraf that commitments with regard to the war on terror were made.
“It was during this period that an amount of 45 billion dollars came into the country and some people got fiscal gains beyond their imagination. Such people would never like their chief patron out of power,” The News quoted her as saying in a TV interview.
