India to cut fuel prices after December 24: DeoraNew Delhi, Nov. 25: India may cut fuel prices towards the end of December as the code of conduct for ongoing assembly elections bars potentially vote-winning policy moves, said Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora on Tuesday.

Crude oil prices have fallen from its July peak of 147 dollars a barrel to 54 dollars on Tuesday, but India has not cut fuel prices, unlike Malaysia, which last week announced a fifth cut in prices.

Deora said he is assured of a good relief to the consumers.

Deora returns home after successful visit of Russia

During his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, Deora referred to India’s desire for formation of joint venture between ONGC Videsh Limited
(OVL) and Rosneft for taking up exploration and development projects in east Siberia.

According to sources, Deora and Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel have reportedly been asked by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who is currently away on an official visit to Japan and China, to resolve this issue at the earliest.

New Delhi, Oct 21 : Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora today said that the present volatility in the global economy has affected India and though the Government is trying its best to overcome the present difficult times, it is the duty of each one of us to use the hydrocarbon fuels prudently and in most efficient way.

Speaking at a function here, Deora said unless we adopt such technologies which help us to increase fuel efficiency leading to conservation of the fuels, it would be enormously difficult for us to sustain this level of growth.
