London, Dec 29 : Ewan McGregor is set to be awarded one of Britain's highest awards, a CBE, for services to drama and charity.
McGregor is among a list of stars set to be given the gongs by the Queen including singer Kate Bush, artist Tracey Emin, former `Strictly' judge Arlene Phillips and Hustle actor Adrian Lester, the Mirror reported.
Illustrator Quentin Blake is getting a knighthood, fashion designer Stella McCartney an OBE, former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash an MBE and violinist Nicola Benedetti an MBE.

London, Oct 10 - Actor Ewan McGregor says he was left embarrassed after his father took his friends to watch his saucy movie "The Pillow Book".
The Scottish actor plays the lover of a Japanese model in the 1996 hit, and was initially worried about his family viewing the adult scenes, reports express. co. uk.
"I was worried about him seeing that film. I come from such a small, conservative wee (tiny) town in Scotland. My dad is a gym teacher," McGregor told Esquire magazine.

Washington, Oct 20 : Actor Ewan McGregor has become the latest celeb to join the tirade against the imprisonment of famed filmmaker, Roman Polanski, thirty two years after he sexually assaulted a teenaged girl.
The Rosemary''s Baby director, who had fled the US on the heels of a sentence award, was sent to a Zurich jail last month after he was arrested on an American warrant while in the city to attend a film festival.
Polanski is now battling against his extradition to the US.

Washington, May 22 : Hollywood actor Ewan McGregor has revealed that he quit smoking and drinking alcohol fearing that the habit would lead to early death.
The `Emma' actor quit the habit in 2007, and hasn't touched either of them ever since.
"I wasn''t someone who could smoke or drink in moderation, and I recognised that those things would kill me. I started visualising the doctor telling me that I had cancer from smoking or that I was extremely ill because of how much I''d been drinking," Contactmusic quoted Ewan as telling Health magazine.

Washington, May 20 : Scottish star Ewan McGregor has revealed how a couple once mistook him for the ghost of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
He revealed that he was in London when Cobain ended his own life in 1994.
McGregor said that it was during a night out with his friends that he was accosted by a couple who were convinced he was the dead singer.

London, Jan 23: Shooting for new film `I Love You Phillip Morris' turned out to be a `cagey' experience for actors Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey - because the film had real prisoners as extras.
Inspired by true events, the film has Carrey playing jailed con artist Steven Jay Russell who falls in love with his cellmate, Phillip Morris, played by McGregor.
And to get the atmosphere of an authentic prison, the director made the actors to shoot in an actual penitentiary filled with convicts in New Orleans, Louisiana.
