Bono’s open letter advice to President Obama

Barack ObamaLondon, January 21 : U2 singer Bono has offered his piece of advice on making the world a better place in an open letter to President Barack Obama.

Along with placing his trust in the judgement of the first African-American President of the United States, the anti-poverty campaigner mentioned some of the troubling issues facing the American people, reports the Sun.

The letter read:

"MR. PRESIDENT, Barack. Every room I have ever been in with you was a much easier room for your presence. It's rare to meet a person like you, where intellect and intuition make such a perfect rhyme.

John Lennon’s sister slams Bob Geldof and Bono’s peace efforts

London, Jan 16 : Late musician John Lennon's sister Julia Baird has hit out at the peace duo Bono and Bob Geldof for not promoting world peace adequately.

Julia has gone to the length of saying that her brother would have done much more for world peace, if he were alive.

She insists that the two musicians have only been able to hog the limelight as global campaigners due to Lennon's absence.

"People like Bono and Geldof have only been able to take centre stage as they have because John's not here," the Daily Express quoted Julia, as saying.

"John's hero was Gandhi, which not a lot of people know and he would have been heading in that direction," Julia added.

The star-studded concert, We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial, would also see Mary J. Blige, Garth Brooks, Usher, Shakira, and Sheryl Crow, reports Contactmusic.

The singer, who has been a contributing columnist for the New York Times, would now be penning his write-ups for the paper on a variety of issues.

The renowned environmental activist based his first piece on his New Year in Dublin, before crediting Frank Sinatra and his memory snaps of meeting the veteran.

"Sinatra''s voice is improved by age, by years spent fermenting in cracked and whiskeyed oak barrels," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
