Washington, Oct 31: Former President Bill Clinton said at a rally that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama during the financial meltdown acted like “what a president does in a crisis.”

“He said, ‘Tell me what the right thing to do is. What’s the right thing for America? Don’t tell me what’s popular. You tell me what’s right – I’ll figure out how to sell it,’” Clinton said.

Clinton said when the crisis broke, Obama called his own advisers as well as those of the former two-term president, Bill Clinton, Warren Buffet and others.

Washington, Oct 31 : One of the greatest foreign policy challenges for the next United States Administration is what to do about Pakistan, Steven Cook of the Council on Foreign Relations has said.

“I think there will be a complete review of Pakistan policy on very short order once the new US President takes office,” he said.

Addressing journalists at the Foreign Press Centre on Wednesday, Cook said he did not understand what the Bush Administration’s policy on Pakistan was.

Washington, Oct 31 : Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama maintains a clear lead of 11 points over his rival John McCain, with less than one week before Election Day, in a new poll conducted by CBS News/New York Times.

The Democratic nominee now leads his Republican rival by 11 percentage points, 52 percent to 41 percent, among likely voters nationwide.

A small percentage of these voters could still switch sides: The figures include both firm supporters of each candidate and those who lean towards one or the other but have not fully committed.

Paris - When French historian Pap Ndiaye was asked recently what Barack Obama's election as US president would mean to him personally, his voice grew soft: "I will be very moved. The most powerful man in the world will be a black man. This is incredible."

But Ndiaye - the author most recently of The Black Condition: An Essay on a French Minority - was quick to add that he also expected Obama's election to bring about certain changes in French society.

Winchester, Virginia - A Barack Obama supporter stopped by the campaign's headquarters in historic Winchester in western Virginia, just ahead of the election, looking for a yard sign to trumpet her support, but walked away disappointed.

The campaign had run out of signs, which dot yards and roads across the United States with candidates' names ahead of elections. The McCain headquarters in the traditionally conservative city, population 25,000, had also given out all its signs.
