Lahore, Aug. 17 : Pakistan People''s Party Co-chairman Asif Zardari has said that the next president of the country may very well be a woman.

In an interview with ARY television, Zardari said President Pervez Musharraf was conspiring against the present coalition government, by giving the impression that the president was more powerful than parliament.

According to the Daily Times, he predicted that democracy would be the ultimate victor, whether Musharraf was impeached or not.

Islamabad, Aug 14 : PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has been credited for winning over the Opposition members and mustering enough support for unanimously passing a resolution in the Sindh Assembly last evening asking President Pervez Musharraf to either take vote of confidence or resign.

The resolution was adopted unanimously by the provincial assembly.

Lahore, Aug 13: PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has reportedly said that President Pervez Musharraf was “a guest for a few days”, and that the new Pakistani president will be elected after consultation with all the parties in the ruling coalition.

“As soon as the new President of Pakistan takes oath, he will abolish Article 58(2b) of the Constitution,” the Daily Times quoted Zardari as saying in an interview a TV channel here last evening.

Islamabad, Aug 12 : Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that it would be premature to say that President Pervez Musharraf might have misappropriated the US aid given to Pakistan in war against terror.

The PPP co-chairman told Geo News that that his statement in this regard was stated out of context by a British newspaper.

He further said that the Pakistan Army and the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) are not involved in politics.

Islamabad, Aug 11 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reportedly played a crucial behind-the-scene role in persuading PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari for deciding to bring about an impeachment motion against President Pervez Musharraf.

According to The News, Gilani told Zardari that they all should “swim and sink” with the political forces of PML (N) in the larger interests of democracy.

Islamabad, Aug 11: In a video tape released last evening, Al Qaeda No 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri has reportedly criticised Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf for playing in the hands of the Americans and compromising with Pakistan''s sovereignty by allowing US’ intelligence agencies to operate from its soil.
