PCB undecided on Yousuf’s selection in national squad

PCB undecided on Yousuf’s selection in national squadKarachi, Mar. 28: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that it is still undecided on whether to recall Mohammad Yousuf in the national team or not.

Yousuf, who has been barred by the board from playing international cricket after he joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), had expressed his desire to play for Pakistan.

The PCB is seeking views of legal experts over the issue, but has also made it clear that Yousuf would only be considered for the selection after he terminated his contract with the ICL.

“We have sent the letter to our legal advisors for input. But one thing is clear - he can only be considered when he leaves the ICL,” PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Saleem Altaf said.

Meanwhile, Yousuf also met PCB chief Ijaz Butt to discuss the issue, however, no final decision was taken in this context.

“We will let you know once there is anything concrete,” The News quoted Butt, as saying.

According to ICL sources, Yousuf will be dragged to court if he bids adieu to the league without consulting the ICL management to facilitate his selection in Pakistan team.

The ICL fears that Yousuf’s exit could incite other Lahore Badshah players like Abdul Razzaq, Imran Farhat, Imran Nazir, Mohammad Sami and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan to follow suit. (ANI)
