Parties start gearing up for general electionsLucknow, Mar. 2 : With the announcement of election dates, all the political parties are now in the election mode.

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati met BSP Members of Parliament and the Members of the Legislative Assembly to discuss political strategy for the election.

Senior BJP leader Lalji Tandon received a rousing welcome from BJP workers in Lucknow, the seat that he will be contesting.

“I have acquired the blessings of Atal Behari Vajpayee and the whole party. These party workers won''t let me do anything. They will arrange everything related to elections. You can see the craze among the people in Lucknow,” said Tandon.

Tandon is considered to be a close associate of Vajpayee.

After a meeting with former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh in New Delhi, Samajwadi Party Chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav said the alliance with the Congress would take place.

“We will soon have an alliance with the Congress Party. There would be no halts from our side. Now, it all depends on the Congress Party that how they will look upon this matter. One member each from ours and their party will discuss this issue,” Yadav said.

Recently, there has been a strain in relations between both parties over seat sharing in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming elections. (ANI)
