Chandigarh, Apr 19: The Punjabi Durbar programme commences with the Gurbani, but what follows is propaganda that seeks to divide the people of Punjab, particularly those living in the border areas.

The latest programme seeks to tell the people that the Congress Government was involved in 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The message that is being conveyed is that the Congress led Government at the Centre is continuing to follow anti-Sikh policies.

Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) assistant information officer Jaswinder Singh Jassi says, "Since 1984 anti-Sikh riots, there is no such dispute among the Sikhs and Hindus and they live together and share each other's problems."

He further said that the visitors at the Harmandir Sahib comprise of 50 per cent of Sikhs and the rest belongs to other faiths, a majority of them are Hindus. "This fact in itself suggests the communities in Punjab live in love and peace," Jassi added.

SGPC member and Congress activist, Sukhwinder Singh Sidhu says that India and Pakistan enjoys cordial relations these days and Radio Pakistan should not give such comments that hurt Indians' sentiments.

"Whoever gives such programmes on radio must make a visit to India to apprise itself of the ground realities," he added.

Radio Pakistan's repetitive attempts to mislead the youth living in Punjab, especially those who are living along the Indo-Pak border of the state, has evoked unhappiness among them.

Rejecting allegation being leveled by the radio, people of the state instead blame Pakistan for spreading terror in India and giving safe sanctuary to those who have left no stone unturned to terrorize Indian society.

Punjabi Durbar initially plays the Gurbani to attract the people that is just like sugar coated poison tablet.

"They are trying hard to divide the Hindus and Sikhs through their propaganda," said a Jasbir Singh, a person living in the border areas.
