Pakistan is also a victim of terrorism: Rehman Malik

Pakistan is also a victim of terrorism: Rehman Malik Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, who is on a three-day official trip to India, has claimed that Pakistan has always denounced terrorism as it is also a victim of terrorism.

Mr. Malik, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday, explained that more than 40,000 innocent Pakistanis have so far lost their lives because of terrorism.

However, he stated that the statement of Ajmal Kasab who was recently hanged in Mumbai, India for his role in 26/11 Mumbai attacks, was not enough to prove that Pakistan had a hand in the attacks.

When asked about Indian soldier Saurabh Kalia, who was allegedly tortured by Pakistani soldiers during the Kargil war, he said it was regrettable and he did not want such appalling incident to repeat.

The liberalized visa agreement, which was signed by Mr. Malik and India's then External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on September 8 in Islamabad, also became operational today.

Islamabad and New Delhi agreed to liberalize visa norms as part of their efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries. The ties were badly dented in 2008 when militants attacked Mumbai and killed 1666 innocent people. Liberalized visa norms will make it easier for businessmen, tourists as well as other people who have relatives across the border to pass through freely.
