Pak approves new law to protect women against workplace harassment

Islamabad, Nov 6 : Pakistan federal cabinet is learnt to have approved a new law aiming at protecting women against workplace harassment.

The country’s Information Minister Sherry Rehman announced that under the proposed legislation, the government plans to set up a special appellate authority to handle complaints from women who face harassment at work.

The bill, which will be sent to parliament for approval, would amend criminal laws to increase punishments for offences related to the harassment of women, the Daily Times quoted Sherry as saying.
