Overweight mums linked with premature babiesIt was reported that overweight and obese expecting mother could end up giving a premature baby. Not only that baby so produced, might suffer with various kinds of health issues due to prebirth.

Associate professor in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine''s Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr. Sarah McDonald stated that in case of overweight women have a 30 percent greater risk of having induced preterm birth before 37 weeks and that risk ups by 70 per cent if the women is very obese.

He said, "Preterm birth and low birth weight are leading predictors of neonatal morbidity and mortality and morbidity or illness through childhood."

McDonald added that in case of expecting mother in their latter half of pregnancy should take in about 300 calories a day - the equivalent of a large glass of milk and a piece of fruit.

Meanwhile positive lifestyle in case of delivering healthy babies has always been the need of the hour.

Therefore it has been suggested that women need to have an optimum weight before pregnancy.
